Management and Reporting Tools

A generic approach can offer a particularly cost-effective solution for industries and sectors where there is a high degree of repetition – ie a large number of organisations carrying out similar activities all over the country. Thus a purpose-designed management and education system can both improve individual performance and allow comparison between similar organisations, considerably more economically than each individual organisation having to develop its own custom-built methodology.

This approach is especially suitable where there is an active regulator or professional body. CBA designed the Environmental Matrix for Housing (EMH), for example, for the Housing Corporation - a user-friendly environmental management and education tool now widely used within the social housing sector – to help the Corporation achieve its commitments to Government for improved levels of environmental management by registered social landlords.

The EMH has been designed to provide ISO 14001 compatibility, combined with strong educational and information components. As well as providing a rigorous management platform detailing each of the relevant environmental issues and what measures can be taken to address them, extensive Help files fully explain their relevance to social housing and how landlords can benchmark their performance. The EMH’s simple graphic reporting outputs have also proved particularly popular for describing and demonstrating performance and action plans to clients, partners and other stakeholders in the sector.
